We are happy working together as a team. My wife usually goes to market our products mainly in Nairobi. On the other hand I am more technical handling repairs of our homemade kilns and supervising production and quality. We try as much as possible to make new products while perfecting the old.
We are family of four, Alice and me, Simon, and Maureen, 13 years, is our elder child and James, 11 years, is our last born.
Those we can employ just because of (KVI's) orders;
In the past one year we have been blessed to have (KVI) as our customer. We have four permanent employees and three more who always come in when we get orders from Kingdom Ventures to help make necklaces and bracelets. In addition there are people who benefit when we get orders since we buy bottles from them. We have included single mothers in our casual labor where they occasionally come to wash the collected glass from municipal dump site. However, our business is not yet big enough to keep a large number of employees.
We keep our environment clean around us by asking our neighbours not throw empty bottles around and instead bring them to us.
Benefits since we met;
We were having water problems before, but today we are happy to have dug a well 97 feet deep using the money got from Kingdom Ventures from the previous orders. We now have water in our house and cleaning recycled glass is not a problem any more.
Our dreams and goals;
We hope to expand our business by making more products from glass recycling eg, making utensils and tables that are affordable by low earning local people. We also try as hard as possible to improve on quality products.
At the moment our major set back is transport. We always try to save for a station wagon car that can bring in raw materials and deliver products but money finds other uses. We rely on rented means of transport which is very expensive. This year we are praying to God that Kingdom Ventures may get more customers so that our dream can come true.
