 Made in Honduras Craft Co-op
Meet the artisans
KVI has been buying from Made in Honduras since 2008. In February 2010, we had opportunity to visit Trujillo and meet many of the artisans face-to-face. Click their picture to read more about the artisan or the product picture to view more of their artistry. |

Ale (Alexis) began producing thumb-drums from calabash a few years ago. He realized that he could make jewelry from the scraps left over when he mounted the sounding board. With an ultra-fine jeweler's saw, he cuts each tree-of-life pattern freehand.
Ale recently purchased a coffee finca (farm) with his earnings. He harvested his first crop this year. |

Ene produces crocheted wire jewelry, which we carry as both sets (necklace, bracelet, earrings) and individual bracelets. She also produces bamboo necklaces and bracelets utilizing the bamboo which grows right behind her house. |
|
Maira lives in the village of Guadalupe Carney outside of Trujillo and produces delicate crochet-and-bead necklaces and earrings.

Maria (or Mari) is a multi-talented artisan, and the one with whom we have worked the longest. We know her best for her sea-glass jewelry, but she also does wire jewelry and hand-painted cards. Additionally she is responsible for bookkeeping for the Co-op.

Tonya makes the finest coconut-shell jewelry we've ever seen. Actually it's a "family affair" because her husband cuts and finishes the coconut disks while she designs and creates the jewelry.
