The village of Napanat lies in the rural northeast of Thailand, quite near the Vietnam border. Napanat is home to the Tai Dam (Black Thai) people, who have a heritage of weaving. A number of women in Napanat have come together to form a cooperative which we know as Asian Threads. Eet, the head weaver, desires to keep the weaving heritage alive as well as to provide jobs and a steady income for other women in the village. |
